In addition to eating large quantities of pumpkin, squash, and treats that contain them, autumn has a way of making me want to be cultural. I suddenly have the urge to do more exploring, walking through Central Park, trips to the Met and the symphony, and other things that adults allegedly do. Basically, I plan on living in a romantic comedy for a while. Except that the leading man is replaced with a 12-lb man named Harvey who is also a dog.
In preparation for this new romcom-style life plan, I’ve secured a fireplace screen and tools so that I can cozy up to the fire after my strolls across the Brooklyn Bridge. I am now fully prepared for fireplace season… except for the part where I have never made a fire in my life and I’m a little concerned that if something goes awry, my 12-lb leading man may have a hard time carrying me out of the burning building. I guess it’s a risk I’m going to have to take.
In the meantime, I’m starting to plan out my fall baking strategy. I’m also starting to realize that making all of the festive goodies I have on my list will either require a vastly expanded circle of friends to share with, or a vastly expanded waistline. But since I tend to like dogs more than people, I think we all know how that one’s going to turn out.
I was pulling together some of my favorite recipes from last fall & winter for you guys, when I noticed there were a couple of photo shoots that almost looked like GIFs. And since food GIFs are the best GIFs, I made them for you. I like them so much, I may actually start taking GIF-worthy pictures on purpose.
So here they are, in all of their caramely glory. Enjoy, my friends, and keep scrolling for some of the most delightful RFTL fall recipes. And let me know what else I should be adding to my all-time favorite Pinterest board, fall baking!
