    Dark & White Chocolate Chip Cookies

    I don’t know how you all feel about white chocolate, but I was never a huge fan. I have pretty much always resented it for calling itself chocolate when it’s really just cocoa butter.

    I just don’t like being lied to by food.

    But lately, I’ve been trying some different kinds of baked goods, and on more than one occasion  I find myself asking “Gee, this tastes so rich and delicious, what’s the secret?”

    That’s when white chocolate pops out of the ingredient list in all of its vengeful glory, shouting “HAHA SUCKER! It’s ME!”

    Anyway, the point is that I’m calling a truce with white chocolate. I’m learning that in the proper ratio, it actually adds an extra layer of decadence to an otherwise real chocolatey dessert (as much as I hate to admit it). And that’s what it does in these cookies. They may appear to be regular boring-ish chocolate chip cookies, but they are seriously delicious. The mix of flours makes them extra soft on the inside, while still allowing them to brown. And the chocolate melts perfectly. It’s just a really beautiful thing. Chocolate is love, kids. Even if it’s white.

    Other life updates to give you, since I haven’t been posting as often as I’d like:

    My general life is going pretty well, except for that time my dog peed on the couch cushion. Again. Just to be an asshole.

    I’m still eating cookie dough for breakfast on a regular basis. I find that in a pinch, it’s a good alternative to bacon.

    I went to spin class this morning and the instructor was making the loudest sexual noises you have ever heard – projected by a microphone. There was panting, ecstasy, and a whole lot of WOW – THAT FELT SO GOOD. A normal person would have been uncomfortable, but I was pretty much just giggling like a two-year-old in the corner.

    I have been seeing the same guy for almost two months now and haven’t royally fucked it up yet! I hear you all gasping in disbelief. Crazy how it’s easier to get along when you’re hanging out with someone who is awesome, as opposed to someone who is a complete waste of six-pack abs. Lesson learned.

    Anyway, here is the recipe for the cookies. ENJOY!

    Dark & White Chocolate Chip Cookies


    • 1 1/4 c cake flour
    • 1 c bread flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
    • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
    • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
    • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1.5 c 60% bittersweet chocolate chunks
    • 1/2 c white chocolate chunks


    Preheat oven to 375. Sift flours, cinnamon, salt, and baking soda together. In a separate bowl, cream butter & sugars until fluffy. Add vanilla to butter mixture and mix. Add eggs to buter mixture, one at a time, mixing well after each. Gradually beat flour mixture in. Stir in  dark and white chocolate chips. Spoon by tablespoonful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for about 10 minutes per batch. Transfer to a cooling rack and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

      I feel the same way about white chocolate!!! But what you’re saying makes total sense. I had these brownies that were frozen with chunks of white, dark ,and milk chocolate and chopped up oreo’s and I was so shocked when I realized there was white chocolate in em.

      Totally feel you on the white chocolate. I always wondered why macadamia nut cookies tasted so good and then I realized it was the white chocolate chips that made them so wonderful.
